2007-08 Season
CENTRAL ENGLAND FINALISTS
Hardwick Harriers represented Cambs FA in the Central England held in Birmingham in April. This was a competition where all county winners were present. Hardwick were fantastic reaching the grand finals and was only 10 minutes away from playing in the all England Finals.
Group Game Results:
Hardwick 1 : Shropshire 1
Bedford 1 : Hardwick 2
Hereford Lads 0 : Hardwick 1
Semi Final Result - Kidderminster 2 : Hardwick 2 (Hardwick win 3 : 1 on penalties)
Final Result - Leicester 3 : Hardwick 0
To come second in a major competition which started with 2500 teams is a great achievement and one which Hardwick can be proud of.
COUNTY CUP FINAL - 18th March
We played Chesterton Eagles in our first ever Cup Final held at Cambridge City Stadium. After falling behind early in the match, Hardwick Harriers fought back and goals from Charlie Dear (2), Gareth Powell and Ollie Montique gave the Harriers a 4 : 1 victory.
Tours
Season 2005/06 - Dublin
We played two matches on the tour and although we lost both games, it was the first time a team from Hardwick had been abroad. We had a great time and the boys enjoyed staying in the hostel and eating out together.
Season 2006/07 - Hungary
The tour this year was the biggest my wife and I had organised. We left Luton on a cold Sunday morning and landed 2 hours later at a scorching Budapest Airport. We played 6 games in 5 days (won 4, drawn 1, lost 1) missing out on a European final on goal difference.
A fantastic tour which I'm sure the team will remember for a long time. Playing in the big stadium at Kapsovar and enjoying the aqua parks and discos in the evenings was just great.
